Located: Corktown Detroit,
2001 15th St.
Project Type:
Restoration/Renovation, Commercial
Completed: June 2024
Removal, replacement, & restoration of 23,000 square feet of original Pink Tennessee Marble flooring, borders & stair treads throughout the magnificent 1st floor as well as installation of precast terrazzo stair treads in stairwells.
Wolverine conducted multiple floor surveys with the intent to salvage as much of the original flooring as possible.
Where stone could not be salvaged, the material was sourced from Tennessee Marble Company, using some of the same quarries that provided stone for the station during construction in 1913.
A tremendous amount of effort was devoted to honoring the original details of the marble flooring as it related to color ranges, hues, vein cuts, finishes, etc. Numerous rounds of material reviews were completed to ensure the most appropriate stone match.
Work also included furnishing, fabrication & installation of a 60” clock face made of Statuario Marble from Carrara Italy. The iconic clock sits above the ticket booths.
